Slasher film gone wrong?

Much of the slasher films we have seen over the years have become very predictable. As we can see from the article written by Sarah Trencansky. From the 1980's on up the slasher film is known for the evil serial killer to go around killing people, blah blah blah, he/rarely she has some sort of a past history (abuse, molested, etc,), blah blah blah. However, it still always draws a good crowd. I found this article really interesting in that I had never really thought about the concept of the "final girl." I just thought they chose to have women be the center of the horror film because it contributed the stereotypes, the sexual agendas, etc. to the movie plot. But now that I think about it, most of the slasher films i've seen mostly revolve around this final girl character. But what would happen if this final girl screwed up? What if the final girl had successfully killed off the serial killer in the beginning of the movie? Obviously this would never happen or else there wouldnt be a movie...but I found a video on youtube where it did. This is a spoof off of what would happen if the final girl "fucked up..." I wish the video would be able to be embedded, but it says it was disabled so please click on the link to watch the short film. The part where she messes up is at 7 min, 15 sec. But the whole movie is around 9 minutes....its entertainingly stupid and worth the watch. The link is below...

  1. If you've ever seen Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof there is a pretty cool trick on the audience concerning the final girl. In the first 20 min or so, we have a character who has totally been set up to be the final girl and exhibited all the signs spoken about in the trencansky article, get slaughtered and then a whole new group of characters are introduced.
